Disabilities
and Success
Katie
Rodriguez Banister has learning disabilities and was often teased about
them. But that didn’t stop her from becoming an author. An auto
accident left her paralyzed from the chest down at the age of twenty-five.
But life goes on. All of her, life Katie has had to learn how to ask
for help and ask in a way she was going to get it. She will share her
personal journey using her sense of humor as a survival technique.
Respecting
differences
Katie
teaches children how to appreciate people who are different. What would
the world be like if we looked, talked and did everything in the same
way? We would be bored for sure! Learning about others is a way to appreciate
everyone.
